How to Tell the Difference Between Shampoo and Conditioner
One question we often get at StarBars is “how do I tell the difference between shampoo and conditioner?”
Great question. When you are new to using bars, they often look the same. However, there are some key differences.
StarBars shampoo bars are bigger than the conditioner bars
The shampoo bar lathers up while the conditioner does not
The StarBar shampoo bar has a border around the outside, and the star is raised
The StarBar conditioner bar has a beveled top, and the star is indented
On all of the bars except Protect and Freedom, the bars are different colors. Both of the Freedom bars are white since they don’t contain any fragrance or dye. Protect is also a creamy white, but we may change that color in the near future to help differentiate between the bars.
Here are some hints on telling the bars apart when you are in the shower.
Always keep the shampoo on the left and the conditioner on the right (or vice versa)
Put the bars on two different shelves
Remember that the one that lathers up is the shampoo.
It’s not that confusing once you get used to the bars. Many bottled shampoos and conditioners come in bottles that are the same shape and color. I know there is writing on the bottles, but if you grab the wrong one, it’s pretty obvious right away when you squeeze the liquid out of the bottle! It’s the same with bars. If it doesn’t lather up, it’s not shampoo.
I hope that was helpful. Happy hair washing!
